Letter to members: CUPE education workers begin new school year, continue call for more funding

As a new school year begins, the CUPE Saskatchewan Education Workers’ Steering Committee (EWSC) extends a warm welcome back to our members.

While schools close for the summer, we know that many of our members work year-round, and we too have been busy this summer. We joined the NDP at two press conferences in Saskatoon and Prince Albert, calling on the Sask. Party to restore Jordan’s Principle funding and invest in education.

You can read more about the press conferences here:

Looking ahead, we will soon be launching a new survey in the coming weeks to get feedback regarding current classroom supports; this survey will be available for support staff, parents and teachers to partake in.

Your input is critical in helping us as we fight for stronger supports and adequate funding. Keep an eye on your mailbox for the survey – your voice matters.

Thank you for your continued commitment and solidarity. Together, we’ll keep fighting for the supports students and education workers deserve. There is strength in numbers.

In solidarity,

KARLA SASTAUNIK
Chair, Education Workers’ Steering Committee
